Don & Gwen Allen Print E-mail

Teaching “Abiding Life Seminars” and leadership in Zambia to native pastors.

Don was born and raised in and around Dallas, Texas. Don & Gwen Allen Although taken to church as a young child, Don came to know Christ personally after university and starting a career in aerospace engineering, on May 1, 1967.  Later, after years of trying to work FOR God as a missionary and a pastor, the Lord brought him to a new way of living --- total dependence on Him.

Gwen was born in Ponoka, Alberta, and grew up as a pastor’s daughter. Her father as a Free Methodist pastor in churches in Alberta, BC, & Sask.  Gwen was converted as a young child at camp in Winfield, BC.   Although she earnestly tried to live the Christian life, she found it to be a great struggle.  Not until many years later did she come to really know Christ and enter into His rest and all fear & doubt came to an end.

Ministry: In Lusaka, Zambia (Africa) Since 2004   This usually entails Seminars, Bible Courses, and Leadership Training for Pastors & Church Officers within their own  townships and compounds.

Challenges:

1.   The multitude of invitations to ministry

2.   The need to locate more places (church buildings, schools, etc. ) where  electricity is available since we use an Overhead Projector during teaching.

3.   Waiting patiently as the Lord Jesus raises up Zambians to know Him and the power of His resurrection  (and to minister this grace).

Needs and Challenges: "Prayer support for the Spiritual battle we are in worldwide to spread the Gospel.  Our financial support to be fully met on a monthly basis.  Pray for wisdom for Doug as he is still setting up a lot of new systems. Pray for Sheryl’s health issues - she has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which can be very challenging.  Godly wisdom in raising our children, and that they would follow the Lord."

Dorothy Gammie Print E-mail

Equipping Sunday School Teachers and a Bible School teacher.

Dorothy GammieDorothy grew up in Melfort, Sk. and became a Christian at 5 yrs of age.

When she was 10 years old, God called her to be a missionary.  She attended  Bible School in Eston, SK. for three years and then worked there for ten years in the kitchen, studied French and took several Mission Classes, Christian Education Courses and Child Evangelism Courses.

Ministry: In 1982 she became full-time missionary in Africa. She teaches Bible School, trains children’s Sunday School teachers along with her full time co-worker, Pascal, in seven different districts.  She is affiliated with the Apostolic Church of Pentecost.  She will also be teaching at the Bible School again, when classes begin in October.

Challenges:

1. Need for wisdom in training teachers and recruiting new Sunday School teachers.  The value of children’s ministry in Burkina Faso is just beginning to be recognized so we need a real vision for people to dedicate themselves to this ministry.  There are 7 million children in Burkina and very few who are learning about Jesus.

2. Need for wisdom to know how to communicate wisely and to be able to work with the Africans with love, grace and humility-that people would come to know Jesus as their Personal Savior.
